The Communications Team is the centralised team that looks after the strategic communications and marketing for Stats NZ. We sit within the Office of the Chief Executive and work across the organisation.

The role | Te tūnga

As Advisor - Marketing and Communications you will be part of a customer-centric and collaborative team providing strategic and tactical communications and marketing advice across the organisation. The focus for this role is on external communications and marketing but you'll need to be a true generalist.  

We're looking for an all-rounder who enjoys being busy and is able to turn their hand to a range of communications activity.  

You'll have a clear, concise and engaging writing style. You'll know how to craft a great comms plan. You'll thrive on variety and enjoy taking on a wide variety of tasks from social media management and media reporting to writing articles and profiles, taking photos and creating videos to developing presentations. 

What you bring | Nōu te rourou   

To be successful in this role you'll:  

  • be a communications all-rounder with experience in a similar role 

  • bring a can-do, whatever-it-takes attitude and thrive on variety  

  • be skilled in written and oral communications and plain language champion  

  • have an interest in social media and coming up with great ideas to keep our content fresh 

  • have experience using marketing and communications tools including social media, website CMS, e-newsletter platforms, video and Google  

  • be naturally organised and have great time management and excellent attention to detail  

  • be able to demonstrate sound relationship building skills   

  • have a good understanding of economic, social and governmental influences.
