About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
The Advisor (Māori claims) is a full-time permanent role that supports the sensitive claims team in the delivery of a smooth and effective alternative dispute resolution process. Sensitive claims are where an individual believes that they were abused or neglected at a state or residential school, and is seeking some form of redress from the Ministry.
The Advisor is responsible for:
Undertaking research and collating all information relevant to a claim, from multiple sources
Preparing the records and information for Senior Advisors and external claim reviewers to assist with the review of claims
Preparing documents to be released in information requests, particularly under the Privacy Act, and under Discovery
Providing document management support to the claims team
Salary range: $74,015 - $89,547 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
We are looking for someone who is diligent, with excellent attention to detail, and is comfortable working with large bodies of sensitive information.
You will also offer:
A relevant tertiary qualificaftion, or equivalent experience.
Strong understanding and knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga as well as a commitment to developing your own and your teams’ knowledge and skill sets further.
An ability to deal with with highly sensitive information.
Strong analysis skills, including the ability to process and extract relevant information from a large amount of documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative approach to your work, maintaining excellent relationships with your colleagues within the Sensitive Claim team, across the Ministry, as well as external networks and providers.
Experience in preparing responses to requests for information under the Privacy Act 2020 and/or the Official Information Act 1982 would be beneficial.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
An important part of this role is ensuring that our electronic and hard copy records are appropriately managed and easily accessible by the wider team. This means you will also need to be very well organised and have sound administration skills.

Te Pae Aronui is the operations and integration arm of Te Tāhuhu and part of Te Māhau. Our structural model is designed around our functions - where each team works with and relies on the other to deliver their role.
The Sensitive Claims Team sits within the Network and Regulatory function of Te Pae Aronui. Network and Regulatory brings together capability to navigate the legislative requirements to deliver a dual focus on modern regulation and strategic network planning that shapres the provision of education.
