About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We have a Permanent, Full-Time Curriculum Adviser role at our Maungawhau | Mt Eden Office.
The Curriculum Adviser provides advice and support to early learning services, kura and schools in their region on the development of high-quality teaching and learning programmes.
They work with teachers and kaiako across the pathway to support the design of engaging and responsive curriculum learning that embraces and reflects the diverse cultures, identities, languages of ākonga, learners and their whānau, with a particular focus on serving those who have been underserved by the system.
Curriculum Advisers also do the following:
Provide advice and support to early learning services, kura and schools on the development of high-quality teaching and learning programs, including assessment practices, to support the implementation of government curriculum priorities to improve learning outcomes for all students.
Work with early learning services, kura and schools to identify and deliver high quality curriculum to meet the diverse educational needs of all students, with a specific focus on equitable achievement of student learning outcomes.Use structure
Deliver professional learning, online and face-to-face, to support implementation of government curriculum priorities.
Support early learning services, kura and schools to work alongside whānau, hapū and iwi to reflect the aspirations for their tamariki.
Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
We are looking for a candidate that holds a tertiary qualification in education, leadership, or related areas, including for te reo matatini me te pāngarau, literacy, and communication or maths learning. A full, clean Driver’s License is also required.
The successful candidate will also offer the following:
Experience working with Science of Learning and structured approaches to curriculum development and delivery at an expert level, or able to quickly (through training) achieve expertise.
A broad understanding of the education pathway through early learning and schooling and the different curricula taught across the system.
Robust knowledge, experience and understanding of education contexts at a practical level.
Strong diplomacy, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with an ability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts that prioritises the building of reciprocal and trusting relationships with colleagues and across the sector.
Proven credibility within the education sector and confidence in implementing literacy & communication or maths teaching (early learning, primary or secondary) or te reo matatini or pāngarau teaching (kaupapa Māori or Māori medium) is essential for this role.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
Our team provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.
As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū. Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.
We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled ākonga and/or ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.
