About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

We have a fixed-term, full-time Curriculum Lead role at our Maungawhau | Mt Eden Office. The fixed-term duration will be a year.

 

Curriculum Leads give practical action to give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi by building partnerships with teachers and kaiako to support the design of engaging and responsive local curriculum learning that embraces and reflecting the diverse cultures, identities, languages of ākonga, learners and their whānau through the national learning priorities.

 

This is a specialist role within Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | the Ministry of Education. As a specialist within the Ministry of Education, you will:

  • Share specialist knowledge across the organisation and with stakeholders, working with others to inform operational level decision making.

  • Lead or contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and fit-for purpose solutions and frameworks for current and future challenges.

  • Build capability in others through coaching, quality assurance, and proactively sharing knowledge and expertise.

 

Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

To be successful in the role of Curriculum Lead, you will have the following Essential Qualifications, experience, and capabilities.

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Holds tertiary qualifications in education, leadership, or related areas, including for te reo matatini me te pāngarau, literacy & communication or maths learning.

  • Full and clean Drivers Licence

 

Experience:

  • Working in complex organisations, with robust knowledge and understanding of education contexts at a practical level.

  • Using and applying teaching and learning, curriculum and assessment theory and practice.

  • Designing literacy & communication or maths teaching and learning (early learning, primary or secondary) or te reo matatini or pāngarau teaching (kaupapa Māori or Māori medium).

  • You will have experience in Te ao Māori and an understanding of Te Reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori - critical for Curriculum Leads working in kaupapa Māori and Māori medium.

  • Using Māori bodies of knowledge to inform and improve the design of curriculum, including the championing of Mana Ōrite mō te mātauranga Māori.

 

Capabilities:

  • You will have a track record of bringing people together and leading, coaching, and mentoring others to achieve outcomes with the ability to support professional change in places of learning.

  • You will have strong diplomacy, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with an ability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts. You will prioritise the building of reciprocal and trusting relationships with colleagues and across the sector.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with people from different backgrounds.

  • Passionate about equitable outcomes for Māori and can confidently apply Te Tiriti into their work. Proven use and promotion of culturally sustaining practice within education settings.

  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

Our team provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services. 

 

As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū. Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.

 

We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled ākonga and/or ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.
