Starting Salary: $ 82,988 to $ 96,907 + superannuation

The roles | Te tūnga

We have a number of Design Analyst and Insights Analyst roles available across our teams in Insights and Statistics, based in Pōneke (Wellington city) or Ōtautahi (Christchurch).

Design analysts and Insights analysts are responsible for producing and maintaining our statistical products, building relationships internally and externally, providing coaching and support to other staff and contributing to the advancement of your area of expertise.

Design Analysts also:

  • Design innovative processes, research techniques, methods, tools, standards to support statistical or data production and services.

  • Provide specialist advice on area of expertise.

  • Maintain data quality standards.

Insights Analysts also:

  • Design and undertake analysis of data and statistics across a number of core statistical releases or data sets for a variety of audiences.

  • Identify trends or unexpected results in core releases and investigate underlying causes.

  • Provide credible advice on interpreting findings.

  • Providing quality assurance across a range of statistical products. 

These roles would suit someone who can bring:

  • For Insights roles, strong analytical skills with experience in understanding and interpreting data and relevant degrees such as economics, accounting and statistics.

  • For Design roles, examples of technical leadership, eg leading a technical project or piece of work and relevant degrees such as computer science, statistics, economics.

For both Insights and Design roles:

  • Familiarity with R, Power BI and SQL or other statistical packages to produce statistics would be advantageous.

  • Experience in working to tight deadlines, good time management skills, and ability to adapt and respond to new information.

  • Great team-working skills, personal resilience and the confidence to create strong working relationships, along with demonstrated customer centricity.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that can explain complex concepts in plain English.

  • Knowledge and experience, or desire to learn about Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori, and engagement with Māori. 

  • Have demonstrated, encouraged, or supported diversity and inclusion in or outside of work.
