About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We are looking for and engagement co-ordinator to support and monitor the engagement activities related to the refresh of the National Curriculum, and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa in particular.
They will engage with external stakeholders to test and consultant on key products, showing how their feedback is incorporated into products.
Fluent te reo Māori is an advantage, along with a good understanding of tikanga, and how to build and maintain positive relationships with people outside the Ministry.
12 Months fixed-term
The engagement coordinator role sits in the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme which is a key unit within Te Poutāhū Curriculum Centre. The Programme works in partnership with other Te Poutāhū business units to enable the products and outcomes delivered from these projects to move into the business for ongoing delivery, maintenance, and support.
They will facilitate the engagement with external stakeholders, ensuring positive relationships are built for all programme products through testing and consultation rounds. They will work within a team to monitor and report on all engagement activities across the programme and assist in obtaining feedback, ensuring that the sector feels engaged and listened to. This team will work collaboratively to address any issues and provide potential solutions.
Salary range: $74,015- $89,547 per annum + 3% Kiwisaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
We are looking for someone with experience in a complex organisation, and experience in building relationships and partnerships. Knowledge of the education sector is helpful, along with experience in working with a sector to obtain feedback on products. As many of our stakeholders for Te Marauntanga o Aotearoa are Māori, experience in working with iwi and a strong grasp of te reo Māori is an advantage.
To be successful in the role you will have good problem solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work flexibly across the work area, and proven ability to establish, build and maintain highly effective working relationships.
You will also offer:
Understanding of The New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, and Te Whāriki
Sound knowledge of government and public sector processes
Experience in effective engagement strategies and feedback process design
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

The Engagement Coordinators work collaboratively within the Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme to assist with the development of the refreshed National Curriculum. The wider team consists of highly experienced education professionals with a range of specialisations. The working environment is hybrid with the opportunity to work from home twice a week.
The Curriculum and Assessment Change Programme combines the programme expertise needed to manage the programmes effectively with the deep education expertise to deliver high-quality curriculum updates. This team sits within Te Poutāhū | the Curriculum Centre.
