We are a Court of record. Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 (our Act) recognises the significance of whenua Māori as a taonga tuku iho of special significance to Māori. Our role is to provide a Court service for owners of whenua Māori, their whānau and their hapū.

Te Haeata/The Opportunity
If you are a leader of leaders with extensive operational experience and knowledge, who is looking to lead teams that are passionate about delivering great customer service to support whenua owners, then we are wanting to hear from you.
Pae Ārahi are responsible for delivering nationally consistent services across their kahui with a key part of the role leading and developing teams.
As the leader of the regional service delivery team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality customer service that supports our customers to achieve the aspirations they have for their whenua. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of nationally consistent service including addressing any variations contributed by your team and driving customer-focused delivery to maintain a high-quality customer experience.
You will work collaboratively to allocate resources across different sites, ensuring the successful execution of the overall service experience. A key part of your role will involve fostering an environment that encourages the use of Te Reo and the integration of Tikanga practices and protocols, ensuring cultural inclusivity in service delivery.
In addition to overseeing the quality of service, you will implement regular performance monitoring and use data to create action plans for continuous improvement, aligning with nationally consistent performance metrics.
Strong leadership is essential, and you will provide visible, hands-on guidance to team managers and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and performance. Setting clear, measurable, and achievable goals, you will regularly measure business performance against goals to drive improvements in both customer service and satisfaction, financial sustainability, and operational excellence. You will also identify and address any potential risks and issues across operations. Your focus will also be on employee development, promoting coaching and growth while reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement.
Building strong relationships with external stakeholders, the judiciary, and key user groups is also critical to maintaining a cohesive and effective service environment.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
To be successful in the role you'll need:
Ngā Kaupapa Māori
Competence in, or a willingness to become competent in, Te Reo Māori
An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
Senior management experience, in a customer service, service delivery environment
A tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) desirable but not essential
The ability to read, understand and interpret complex documents, including legislation, financial, numerical and business information.
Experience managing and developing leaders
Experience establishing a high-performing culture
Proven leadership skill in a fast-paced, visible or public environment
Knowledge of the NZ justice and courts systems is desirable but not essential
Experience in change management and leading through change.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $128,129 and $179,192 based on skills and experience.
