About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
The Principal Advisor Workforce Experience role is responsible for understanding the needs of the education workforceand our partners to create products and services that resonate.
You'll be at the forefront of designing and refining touchpoints using a CX-driven approach. In collaboration with Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce (TPOM), Te Tāhuhu o te Matauranga, and other partners, you'll dive deep into workforce insights to map out customer journeys, identify pain points, and craft solutions that make every interaction seamless and engaging.
Your work will directly influence how we evolve our offerings to meet the dynamic, diverse needs of our community, ensuring that every experience is not just improved, but truly delightful.
Salary range: $118,371 - $143,760 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
We are looking for a dynamic and culturally aware individual who can apply a Te Ao Māori perspective to their work and understands the evolving landscape of Aotearoa. You’ll excel in conducting research and analysis of customer journeys, identifying key pain points and opportunities. You will be skilled in developing visual artifacts like journey maps and service blueprints, and skilled at leading workshops and brainstorming sessions to generate innovative service improvements. You’ll be committed to promoting diversity, enhancing customer satisfaction, and aligning initiatives with the Ministry’s goals, while staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
You will also offer:
Senior level experience or service design in a complex organisation / system
A minimum of five years’ hands-on experience applying human-centred design methodologies,
Demonstrated experience in digital enablement
Strong experience developing visually appealing journey maps, blueprints and other design artefacts
A minimum of five years’ experience working at both a strategic and tactical level across the full end-to-end lifecycle, considering omni-channel experience design, digitisation and automation
Experience translating data into journey maps, personas or blueprints
Experience facilitating design-thinking workshops and co-creation sessions with multidisciplinary teams
Previous experience in UX / UI design for digital services and an understanding of the New Zealand Government web standards (accessibility and usability).
UX design experience using tools such as Balsamiq and Figma advantageous.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
