About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

The role of the Psychologist is to provide effective, efficient and equitable services for the benefit of children and young people with additional learning needs.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team based out of the Porirua Office.

 

You will play a critical role within our team by:

  • Identifying patterns or contributing factors that may be influencing learning, well-being and behaviour

  • Working collaboratively with a team around a child to help build the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning, well-being and behaviour of children and young people

  • Providing support and guidance to schools, teachers and whānau

  • Enhancing inclusive practices in early learning services, schools and other educational settings

 

Salary Range: $85,416 - $126,000 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

You will be a New Zealand Registered Pscyhologist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act and hold a current practicing certificate OR be registered as an Intern.  You will have a master’s level tertiary qualification and a post-graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology Practice or equivalent.

 

You will also need to demonstrate:

  • The ability to translate practitioner knowledge into practical information to upskill the adults around a child

  • The ability to develop and interact effectively with people of other cultures fucsing on relationship and recognising their identity, language and culture as a source of strength

  • The ability to understand and take practical action to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • A current full driver’s licence

  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Our team supports the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.

 

Our Learning Support specialists work closely with whānau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators to help maximise learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.
