About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
The role is responsible for providing financial advice, information, and analysis to help managers across our business groups to make timely and informed financial decisions, manage financial performance and to be accountable for public funds.
We are seeking an outstanding finance professional who understands Government decision making and operating procedures and who can strengthen our ability to provide effective financial management and support the Ministry’s financial strategy. We are looking for people who are focused on process improvement and are keen to move towards providing a service beyond the purely financial.
Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
We’re looking for an experienced senior management accountant with excellent communication (both oral and written) who can provide effective financial support and sound advice; has a good understanding of financial control and can identify process improvement opportunities; isn’t afraid to be in the detail but can balance that by not losing sight of the big picture.
To be successful in this role you will have a practical and positive attitude, a keen interest in process improvement and the ability to build effective relationships and credibility with customers at all levels across the Ministry, team members and colleagues in Finance.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
You will also demonstrate:
Tertiary Qualification in Finance, Commerce or Business, and hold or working towards Chartered Accountant status within CAANZ or equivalent is desired
A sound understanding of public sector financial management
Experience undertaking financial modelling and in-depth or complex financial analysis
Can effectively influence and provide specialist advice to managers
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
