Senior Privacy Advisor – Information Shared Services 

Full time, Permanent position  

Location: National Office, Wellington  

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Privacy Advisor who wants to be a part of a team that advocates for the rights and dignity of disabled individuals in our communities.  You will work alongside a dedicated team committed to excellence in information management and privacy.  

Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People (Whaikaha) was launched on 1 July 2022. As a departmental agency of MSD, the Information Security and Identity Group is responsible for delivering Information Services to Whaikaha across Information Management, Information Security and Privacy.   

 

 

What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana 

A key focus of this Senior Privacy Advisor role is to support Whaikaha and MSD to continue developing and implementing Information Services that will meet the ongoing needs of Whaikaha while being aligned to MSD’s responsibility as the host agency to provide Information Services that ensure the responsible use of information. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Design and Implementation: Contribute to the ongoing design and implementation of information privacy and sharing assurance activities, with due consideration given to human rights and ethics, to manage areas of strategic or operational risk to Whaikaha and MSD.

  • Policy Development: Develop, maintain, and implement robust Information policies, standards, and frameworks. Your expertise will help guide our teams work to ensure compliance with the Information Management Service Level Agreement.

  • Operational Support: Provide guidance and quality assurance on the management of information requests and breaches. Help oversee the administration of information repositories and systems, ensuring the protection of personally identifiable information. 

 

 

What you'll need to succeed | Ko ngā mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitū  

To be successful in this role, you will bring: 

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification, coupled with a minimum of 3-years’ experience in Privacy, Human Rights and/or Ethics.

  • Proven expertise in risk and assurance, particularly as it relates to privacy matters

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in information sharing, where appropriate, particularly as it relates to implementing fit for purpose business solutions involving the responsible use and protection of information

  • A solid understanding of the structure of relevant statutes, rules and regulations, and compliance obligations pertaining to the responsible use of information, including, but not limited to, the Privacy Act 2020, the Public Records Act 2005, Official Information Act 1982, and Protective Security Requirements.

  • Experience in establishing an operational privacy service would be advantageous.

Salary range: $118,401.00 - $143,797.00
