Hei Āhuru Mōwai is a not-for-profit Trust and committed kaupapa Māori organisation dedicated to improving cancer prevention, treatment and outcomes for Māori.

 

As Communications and Engagement Lead at Hei Āhuru Mōwai you will be an integral part of our operations team. You will have oversight of all communication activities within and from Hei Āhuru Mōwai at a strategic and operational level, taking the lead on a broad range of key communications, marketing, and brand development projects.

 

You will also support community engagement projects that contribute to the execution of Hei Āhuru Mōwai strategic plan and current priorities.

Ko tōu ake mahi – What you’ll do

1.     Drive the development and execution of an effective communications and engagement strategy for Hei Āhuru Mōwai, leading and managing key messages that brings our purpose and strategy to life for a range of audiences, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand.

2.    Prepare and maintain engagement plans for key initiatives, with clear and effective approaches to stakeholder engagement and communication.

3.    Work closely with and support the Operations Manager and leadership team to identify communications opportunities and risks, and provide proactive strategic and operational advice.

4.    Lead and support the production, design and evaluation of engaging content to use on the website and across social channels including written, image-based, video, podcast/audio content.

5.    Lead website upgrades, site improvements and implement the outcomes from brand and marketing reviews.

6.    Manage media enquiries and promotional activities, including developing press releases and pitching story opportunities, supporting the development of presentations and speeches for the leadership team

7.    Project manage relevant engagement projects and events i.e. AGM, hui, wānanga, rangahau projects and facilitiating community feedback at key kaupapa led by Hei Āhuru Mōwai. 

 

Ko ngā pukenga ōu – What you’ll bring to the role

·        Tertiary qualification in media, communications, marketing, strategy or related field; or equivalent proven industry experience.

·        Exceptional writer with flair for both creative and more formal writing and reporting.

·        Experience in leading communication and engagement projects.

·        Maintain and develop effective relationships with key stakeholders and diverse communities, through maintaining a current database of networks, contacts, whānau mail lists and agency/NGO partners.

·        Support effective implementation of key engagement programmes in a collaborative way across the team and within a network and wider community.

·        Proven experience, knowledge and skills in the leadership of programme design, development, delivery, and evaluation.

·        Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, intranet and website content management, media monitoring tools and platforms.

·        Be digitally-savvy managing multiple social media and online platforms.

·        A passion for and strong track record in social media, media, strategic communications and marketing.

·        Current full driver’s license and flexibility to travel nationally with ease.

·        Extensive and effective current media and community networks.

·        A sound understanding of Māori tikanga and kawa and Te Tiriti o Waitangi is highly desirable.

·        Knowledge of the New Zealand health sector, in particularly the non-government and community sector is preferred.
