Mō tō mātou Rōpū - About the team 

The Finance, Property, Procurement and Business Services team provides high quality, timely and accurate financial and commercial analysis and advice to the Maritime NZ Board, Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and Managers to support robust and well informed decision-making. Finance is responsible for setting the environment for effective financial management and ensuring the assets of Maritime NZ are safe guarded through an effective system of internal controls. Property, Procurement and Business Services are responsible for procurement advice and services for procuring, purchasing, hiring or leasing goods and services, provision of facilities and property management, vehicle fleet and travel management, frontline reception and business support services.

Te tūnga | The role

This is a 9 month fixed term role to provide backfill during the project implementation of a new financial management information system.

Working closely with our Senior Financial Accountant, you will provide support and financial expertise to our Finance Operation staff. Our goal is to maintain a high level of accuracy across all financial transactions while ensuring timeliness is achieved. You will be a champion in best practice, financial management and reporting and be keen to be involved in process improvement projects. You will enjoy mentoring and supporting others and be committed to creating a cohesive, collaborative team environment.

Nōu te rourou | What you bring 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance;

  • Proven experience and knowledge of financial accounting and reporting;

  • Chartered Accountant or provisional CA (or equivalent qualification recognised by CAANZ);

  • Positive and collaborative approach to the team and work environment;

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills;

  • An understanding of best practice accounting and financial practices;

  • Previous senior financial accounting experience;

  • Ability to produce results within tight timeframes;

  • Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, always being mindful of the cultural diversity of the industry and having regard to Te Ao Māori and Treaty of Waitangi principles.

Salary range $98,165 to $119,980 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
