Salary: $108,126 – $122,673 per annum (+ KiwiSaver)

About the Ministry of Transport | He kupu mō mātou Te Manatū Waka

The Ministry of Transport, Te Manatū Waka is the system leader for the transport sector whether it’s on land, at sea, in the air, or connecting Aotearoa to the world. We work in partnership with a number of transport agencies to help keep the transport system moving and are the government’s principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment. We play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working to improve the prosperity for New Zealanders.

About the opportunity | Ngā whakamārama mō te tūnga

Led by a supportive and encouraging Manager, our Resilience and Security Team is made up of 13 Advisers across all levels. They specialise in policy, emergency management, Pacific engagement and maritime security.

We are looking for an experienced policy professional to join our friendly and high performing Resilience and Security team. You will use your previous policy experience to deliver on complex policy issues though team collaboration. You will have the opportunity to not only work on resilience and security policy across all transport modes but also be exposed to all areas of the ministry.

Based on the work or support that may be required, this position is Wellington based only. 

 

What you’ll bring | Te wāhi ki a koe

  • Experience in a similar role providing complex policy advice in a government organisation

  • Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and manage tight timelines

  • Proven written and verbal communication, with strong influencing skills

  • Proven experience of end-to-end delivery of large policy projects/programmes

  • Relevant tertiary qualification examples include but are not limited to public policy, social sciences and international relations

  • The ability to gain a Top Secret clearance is mandatory (click here to find out more about the national security vetting process and access the eligibility self-check tool).

We are open to experienced, high performing Policy Advisers who are looking to progress into a Senior Policy Adviser position and take the opportunity to develop their skills and take on some new challenges.

 

Salary range | Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau

The base salary range budget for this position is $108,126 – $122,673 per annum (+ KiwiSaver). The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
