Te tūnga | The role

The Senior Advisor is responsible for contributing to the operations of Strategic Engagement, Māori Partnerships and Outcomes and is responsible for providing high quality advice and support.  This role reports to the Senior Manager - Māori Outcomes. 

The Senior Advisor is responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of advice and practice in relation to their work and to the broader team's work.  They will take a lead in prioritising and preparing requests for advice, briefings and information, specifically across the Transformation, Future Census and Māori Data Governance work.   The Senior Advisor will also provide analysis and advice to support the Snr Insight Analysts and quality assurance and peer support to the broader partnership and engagement colleagues within Strategic Engagement, Māori Partnerships and Outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to: 

  • support delivering on the transformational and strategic priorities of the organisation 

  • work closely with the Deputy Chief Executive, General Manager, Senior Managers and Principal Advisors to prepare briefings and provide advice 

  • play a key role in coordinating information requests to a range of committees and boards that we report to 

  • be part of a team that is driving organisational strategy through Stats NZ 

  • get hands-on experience in leading important mahi to drive Māori data aspirations in the data and stats ecosystem.
