Ākonga Māori Support and Facilitation Coordinator - Wellington
Te Rau Tauawhi Māori Student Support Centre, Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Ākonga Māori Support and Facilitation Coordinator to join our team on our Pukeahu Campus in Wellington.
This is a full-time permanent position (nominally 37.5 hours per week) and is crucial in enhancing the academic and cultural experiences of Ākonga Māori and their whānau.

Te Rau Tauawhi Māori Student Support Centre is dedicated to empowering Ākonga Māori by providing holistic support that enriches both their academic and cultural experiences. Our team is a key contributor to Massey’s Ākonga Māori Success Strategy. Āu Mahi - What you will do
Empowering Tauria Engagement: Be the first point of contact for our tauria and their whānau, helping them navigate the academic landscape from day one
Planning and Engagement: Design proactive support strategies for both on-campus and distance learners and engage strong support networks
Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate data and records of student interactions in our CRM system, ensuring compliance with privacy standards
Ko koe tēnei - About you
Essential
Experience in supporting Ākonga Māori and their whānau in an educational setting, along with demonstrated empathy and compassion for their well-being
A strong grasp of tikanga and te reo Māori
Demonstrated cultural competence / Māuri Māori, with the ability to engage authentically and supportively, fostering respect for Māori customs and traditions
A strong commitment to Māori development and success
Desirable
A background in undergraduate studies
Familiarity with tertiary education environments and an understanding of university culture is highly desirable
