Oho Mauri was founded in February 2020 and we are a community-focused organisation committed to making a difference in the lives of rangatahi. Our mission is to equip rangatahi with the skills and support they need to thrive in today’s world. We believe in fostering resilience, promoting mental wellbeing, and enhancing employability through tailored workshops and resources. We deliver a 10-week work readiness transitions programme to our most resilient super humans aged 16 to 18 years in the Waikato region who have experienced vulnerable life challenges. Our Programme is underpinned by a deliberate focus on hauora (wellbeing) and cultural identity and weaves in work readiness, soft and life skills, work fitness conditioning and work experience.
Rangatahi then transition into meaningful pathways in either education, training and or employment that is most meaningful for them and then backed with three years of pastoral care support. The Programme supports all aspects of their whare tapa whaa and we designed a holistic model that presents data insights and tracking to ensure progress of equitable and measurable outcomes for those we serve.
Our offices are based in Raahui Pookeka, Huntly and we are a whaanau of 12 with diverse skill and life experience who are committed and dedicated rangatahi advocates.

We are looking for a special person who is genuine and purposely driven to make an impactful difference for rangatahi. A dedicated Pou Whakarite Maatauranga | Educator and Content Lead to head and deliver our work readiness and wellbeing workshops for at risk and vulnerable rangatahi we are privileged to serve. This is a fixed-term position.
Te whakamahere | What you'll be doing
As the Pou Whakarite Maatauranga | Educator and Content Lead, you will help awaken the potential of rangatahi by playing a pivotal role in designing and delivering innovative workshops that address the unique challenges faced by our rangatahi and also prepare them for vocational pathways. You will work collaboratively with a whaanau of dedicated rangatahi advocates to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. You will establish positive relationships with each rangatahi, supporting them to develop life skills and to accomplish specific goals through mana enhancing conversations, and encouraging participation and contribution in all workshops.

Confident at facilitating workshops that promote essential life skills, mental health awareness, and career readiness.
Is a creative thinker and able to design and develop engaging educational content and resources, including lesson plans, activities, and multimedia materials.
Is able to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the workshops making adjustments as needed to enhance impact.
Has a strong understanding of the challenges faced by rangatahi, particularly in terms of work readiness and mental wellbeing.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups of young people in particular rangatahi Maaori.
Has a passion for youth empowerment and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
Is a Champion of inclusion, equity and diversity.
Is a critical thinker, patient and an active listener to address all situations in particular, highly sensitive environments.
Is culturally competent and self aware to confidently weave in diverse backgrounds.
Has a full NZ Drivers Licence.
Is highly computer literate and competent.
