Research Operations Manager | Moanaroa Pacific Research Network - Auckland

We are seeking a highly motivated, relational people leader with experience operationalising plans and research initiatives in an academic setting.  The role of our Research Operations Manager is to lead the operations and activities of the Moanaroa Pacific Research Network, including managing a small, dynamic team of Research Officers.

Moanaroa is dedicated to realising Pacific research aspirations that centre Indigenous Pacific knowledge systems, research methodologies and practices shaped with and of direct benefit to Pacific communities in Aotearoa and across the wider Moana region. Through collaboration on research development and outputs/outcomes, professional development, public research events, workshops, and advocacy, Moanaroa contributes to the dynamic and crucial field of Pacific research, shaping an enduring legacy of AUT Pacific research for generations to come.

In this fixed-term 12 month position, you will play a critical role in realising the aspirations of the Moanaroa governance group and members through collaboratively shaping and leading the establishment, implementation, reporting and evaluation of Moanaroa initiatives, supported by a small team of Moanaroa Research Officers.

This work includes the development and implementation of:

  • AUT's Pacific Research Guidelines and protocols

  • the Moanaroa seminar series: a programme of online/in person events which showcase Pacific research

  • Pacific researchers writing retreats

  • PBRF portfolio workshops

  • Pacific Research Symposium as part of AUT Research Week

  • AUT Moanaroa Pacific Research open access journal (biannual publication), including special edition featuring AUT Pacific postgraduate research

  • initiatives to grow Moanaroa membership through promotion of the Networks activating, utilising AUT channels

  • evaluation plan and processes to understand and track the effectiveness of Moanaroa initiatives

  • biannual milestone reports on the activities of Moanroa for AUT leadership

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Established relationships with Pacific communities

  • Knowledge of Pacific values and ways of knowing and being

  • Demonstrated experience in people leadership, managing projects, operationalising research initiatives

  • Excellent organisational abilities and communication skills

  • A heartfelt commitment to Pacific research, scholarship and community engagement

  • Previous experience in Pacific research is a plus.

This role is based at AUT City Campus; however, work at other AUT campuses may be required at times.
