About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

  • This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time role

  • Wellington-based

 

We are looking for an experienced, capable and committed Senior Policy Analyst to join our Schools Policy group to lead the development of policy in some high profile, new and challenging areas.

 

The Governance, Legislation and Accountability team leads and coordinates all Bills that go through the House as well as leading policy work as it relates to governance and accountability arrangements, particularly within the schooling system. The team has a key role in working with other teams across Te Pou Kaupapahere (policy group) and elsewhere in the Ministry on policy and legislative proposals relating to early learning, schooling and tertiary.

 

A key focus of the work programme includes policy work related to increasing rates of regular school attendance, alongside our core work to support the delivery of other Ministerial priorities and maintain the health of the education system through regulatory and legislative amendment.

 

The team is committed to policy advice that is orientated towards more equitable outcomes in the schooling and broader education system.

 

Salary range: $99,496 - $143,760 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

  • Have experience providing high quality advice to senior leadership teams and Ministers

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

 

Te Pou Kaupapahere is the Ministry’s policy group with a whole-of-system focus covering early learning, compulsory schooling, and tertiary. This includes Māori medium, Kaupapa Māori, Pacific and Learning Support.

 

We provide advice to enable an education system which contributes to the skills and knowledge needed by people for social, cultural, economic and environmental wellbeing. We develop policy about vocational skills, access pathways, international education, and student financial support. We also manage the Ministry’s international engagements and cooperation agreements.
