Mō tō mātou Rōpū | About the team 

The maritime sector is highly exposed to third party regulators and relies on the performance of their regulatory functions to a standard that does not create maritime safety or marine protection risks, disrupt supply, or affect the conduct of commercial operations.

To ensure the effective oversight of third party regulators, Maritime New Zealand is establishing a Third Party Oversight team to provide strategic leadership as well as technical, operational and practical knowledge.

Te tūnga | The role  

As the Maritime Third Party Auditor you will provide advice and guidance related to the audit, and assessment of third party regulators. You will contribute to Maritime NZ's Third Party Oversight Policy and Practice Framework and support the development and implementation of practice procedures, guidance and tools.

The role requires collaboration across MNZ and partnering with SMEs to ensure that procedures and practice relating to direct third party monitoring activity reflect operational policy and are supported by good implementation plans.

Nōu te rourou | What you bring 

We are looking for candidates with expertise in regulatory practice and proven experience in frontline compliance monitoring and, preferably, performance monitoring. Ideally you will bring:

  • Good understanding of frontline performance monitoring frameworks and processes

  • Good analytical skills and ability to problem-solve in complex environments, with experience using these skills to create insights that drive process improvement

  • Ability to provide support and subject matter advice to peers and staff

  • Experience contributing to projects and programmes of work involving multiple objectives and diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to foster positive working relationships across all levels of an organisation, with a collaborative working style and strong user focus

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience

Salary range $115,455 - $127,000 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
