Mō tō mātou Rōpū | About the team 

The maritime sector is highly exposed to third party regulators and relies on the performance of their regulatory functions to a standard that does not create maritime safety or marine protection risks, disrupt supply, or affect the conduct of commercial operations.

To ensure the effective oversight of third party regulators, Maritime New Zealand is establishing a Third Party Oversight team to provide strategic leadership as well as technical, operational and practical knowledge.

Te tūnga | The role  

As the Advisor Operational Policy (Third Party), you will gather and analyse information from a range of different sources to assist with the development of operational policy and delivery of the third party stewardship framework. You will develop a strong working knowledge of Maritime New Zealand regulatory context quickly becoming familiar (if not already) with the maritime related legislation.

The role requires collaboration across MNZ and partnering with SMEs to ensure that procedures and practice adhere to operational policy and are supported by good implementation plans. You'll establish and maintain relationships across Maritime NZ and with industry to ensure our work is well informed and connected.   

Nōu te rourou | What you bring

  • Proven operational policy experience preferably in a regulatory organisation;

  • Excellent analytical ability;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Your ability to relate to, engage and collaborate with a range of different people;

  • Excellent plain English writing, editing and proof reading skills;

  • Experience contributing to and taking the lead in projects requiring collaboration across groups.

Salary range $98,165 - $107,981 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
