Sustainability Summer Internship 2024/2025 | Wellington

A bit about us…

We have been in business for just over seven decades and are (a little bit) proud to share that through our values of integrity, responsibility, respect and support, we have established a reputation as a leading construction company across the central and lower North Island. We are proudly employee-owned and have a purpose to build trust through great buildings, great people, and great relationships.

A bit about the role…

The construction sector has a complicated environmental footprint and has an important role to play in the transition to a low emissions New Zealand. Our Sustainability Internship is an exciting opportunity to gain insight and practical experience with an organisation taking a holistic approach to sustainability.

This is a genuinely exciting progressive initiative for our business.  Reporting into and working alongside our Sustainability Advisor, you will learn, develop skills and grow your confidence as you support and improve sustainability processes and behaviour across our team. Day-to-day this will look like preparing sustainability reporting, data collection and analysis, and engaging with other teams to raise awareness of key sustainability goals.

The biggest opportunity will be that you will have a chance to design a sustainability initiative throughout the duration of the internship and propose it for implementation.

A bit about you…

  • You might be a student in post-graduate study or your final two years of undergraduate study.

  • We recognise that sustainability is an inter-disciplinary field, so eligible candidates may be enrolled in various programmes, including but not limited to Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, or a construction-related programme.

  • Knowledge and experience with the following are a plus:

    • Strong understanding of environmental and social sustainability principles

    • Experience with the Microsoft suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.

    • Experience managing and analysing data sets

  • The important thing is your drive to learn about and contribute to sustainability efforts.

 What's in it for you?

We’re offering a compelling opportunity to learn and develop. For the right person, we would look to create a pathway into a full-time position to provide the sustainability function with additional capacity and capability.  We will be seeking your fresh perspective for the function, which means you will be encouraged to voice your ideas and concerns.

 Interested?  Here’s how to apply…

To express your interest, please apply today! We kindly request that you include a cover letter with your CV, sharing what sustainability means to you and why you’re a great fit for this role. We value diverse perspectives and welcome applicants from all walks of life, appreciating the unique experiences and insights you can bring to our team. Please note that only applications with a cover letter will be considered, and applicants must be available for face-to-face interviews.

Applications close on 7th September 2024, so don’t delay, apply today!

Note - there are some pre-employment activities that will need to be undertaken to ensure that we are supporting you in your health and wellness journey, and these include a pre-employment drug screen, medical, ACC and criminal history checks if successful.
