Starting salary: $95,972 - $112,181 negotiable + superannuation (pro rata)

The role | Te tūnga

This is a part-time, permanent role (22.5 hours per week) with potential for additional hours, (which can be discussed during the interview process). The role is based in Wellington and it reports to the Senior Manager - Agency Partnering.

You'll become part of a high-performing team of engagement professionals and data experts to drive meaningful action through quality data across the Government system. As an engagement specialist, you'll navigate complexity and help build connectivity and capability across government and Stats NZ. You'll engage with stakeholders, deepen your understanding of the data landscape, and become a trusted resource for sharing insights and fostering collaboration.

Working closely with the engagement manager, you'll deliver engagement strategies, briefings, and advice for major projects, requiring strong communication and project management skills to meet milestones and deadlines.

This role would suit someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience building and maintaining positive relationships and professional networks preferably within central government

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, creative flair and an eye for detail 

  • Confidence presenting to a range of audiences

  • An ability to analyse complex information and a desire to problem solve

  • Expertise in Salesforce (or other CRM)

  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori Crown relations, understanding of tikanga and/or willingness to upskill and increase your cultural capability

  • Understanding of the machinery of government, processes and procedures

  • Strong organisational skills (understanding of project management processes would be advantageous)

  • You are capable of working under pressure, motivated to meet deadlines, and are happy to lend a hand when needed!
