Starting salary: $ 95,972 - $112,181 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga  

As Senior Advisor - Group Capability and Development, your primary role will be the development and delivery of a business plan and work program to address capability challenges within the Insights and Statistics group at Stats NZ. Insights & Statistics is a large group comprised of 400+ analysts, advisors and managers. 

As part of this you will work closely with the corporate Learning and Development team to tailor, implement and embed organizational level capability and development strategies and initiatives into the Insights & Statistics Group. You will also be responsible for developing, delivering and monitoring the effectiveness of programs and initiatives to lift specialist/technical capability, and providing advice and guidance to the group leadership team around capability and development related matters.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • be a seasoned learning and development professional and have previous experience in a similar role within a large or complex organisation

  • have strong strategic skills - this role will require you to be creative, innovative, and take a pragmatic approach to delivery

  • be comfortable and experienced in working with technical experts - a basic level of data literacy and confidence in translating technical information into is required to be successful in this role

  • have excellent relationship management skills and be skilled at navigating stakeholder expectations against the end-user experience

  • have some experience in using monitoring and evaluation strategies and analysing qualitative and quantitative information to inform evidence-based recommendations for program enhancements

  • Have familiarity with, or a commitment to learn and understand, Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Ao and Te Reo Māori.

  • Demonstrated or encouraged diversity and inclusion in and/or outside of work.
