Te Kura Hinengaro Tangata the School of Psychology at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University invites applications for a Kaupapa Māori Senior Professional Clinician/Psychologist (Teaching Supervisor) (Part-time) to join the team.

The successful candidate will be invited to shape this position to suit their strengths and interests.  Fluency and expertise with Māori health models, Tikanga, Kawa, and Te Reo Māori will be highly valued for this position. This part-time role can be based on any three of our campuses at Albany, Manawatū, and Wellington. While working on one of our three lovely campuses is preferred, there may be flexibility for ideal candidates to be able to work remotely. Some travel will be required, such as for teaching (one week per semester for block courses) and for supervision of students at internship practice sites across Aotearoa New Zealand (once per semester per supervisee).

The Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Practice is a distance programme that uses an integrated, competency-based curriculum to prepare interns for registration under the Psychologist scope of practice. 

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

You will:

  • Be required to provide teaching, supervision, and oversight of the learning and development of students enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Practice.

  • Conduct site visits at internship practice sites across Aotearoa New Zealand and work as part of the collaborative programme teaching team. 

  • Participate in reviews and updates of the programme’s kaupapa to align practices with the needs of Aotearoa New Zealand and with the most recent advances in pedagogy, Indigenous psychologies, Western psychology, and university academia.

  • Be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of training for students seeking registration under the Psychologist’s Scope of Practice.

Registration and an Annual Practicing Certificate with the New Zealand Psychologists Board are essential for this position.

The appointment will be as Senior Professional Clinician, with a salary band of$107,724 - $143,949commensurate with qualifications and experience.
