On June 27th, M9 will be celebrating its two year anniversary by gathering nine influential Māori voices for its seventh instalment: Ngāti Pae Pāpori - Māori Influencing Social Media.
New Mahi Rangatahi interns welcomed
A student internship programme between Porirua City Council and local colleges has entered its third year.
The Mahi Rangatahi programme provides real-world work experience for young people in Porirua, including developing a CV, applying for a job, having an interview, as well the actual hands-on experience in their chosen role.
Pacific Language Weeks to begin
The first of 11 Pacific Language Weeks for 2024 is next week, as we look forward to celebrating the many varied cultures and identities of the Pacific communities in Porirua.
For the first time, two new languages have been added to the calendar, as we recognise the language of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. These join Rotuma, Samoa, Kiribati, Cook Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Fiji, Niue and Tokelau.

Te Hau Kōmaru National Waka Hourua Festival Opens in Kaiteretere, Welcoming Largest Waka Fleet in Centuries
Saturday 6th April 2024 - The third installment of the Te Hau Kōmaru National Waka Hourua Festival commenced today, marking a historic moment as the largest fleet of waka hourua in centuries sailed into Te Tau Ihu o te Waka a Māui.
Hundreds of spectators gathered at dawn in Kaiteretere to witness the event, many experiencing the awe-inspiring sight of waka hourua for the first time.

Fresh Minds and Tāmaki Health delighted to be supporting workforce pathways
ProCare Fresh Minds, New Zealand’s largest provider of primary mental health and wellbeing services, is delighted to be appointed, alongside Tāmaki Health, for Te Whatu Ora’s Psychologist Intern Hub Services for 2024. The Intern Hub is based at Fresh Minds’ busy central Auckland clinics, and at one of Tāmaki Health’s sites, and sees the interns working in various clinical settings across Tāmaki Makaurau.
The internships are available for students in any University in Aotearoa who are undertaking their final year of post-graduate training in either Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology. We currently have students from the University of Auckland, AUT, and University of Wellington.
