Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Pūkenga - Lecturer in Landscape Architecture within Te Kura Waihanga - School of Architecture. Landscape technologies is the primary teaching area, which includes green infrastructure and infrastructure systems, water management, energy, waste and transport systems, climate mitigation techniques, as well construction detailing and documentation. The ability to teach landscape assessment is desirable. Supervision of Master’s and PhD candidates is a core part of the role. The role also involves research aligned with Landscape Architecture Programme. 

The role will encompass teaching Mātauranga Māori in landscape architecture. As a land-focused and environmental profession, landscape architecture is located at the heart of resource management and development projects in Aotearoa. The landscape architecture programme actively promotes core values of Te ao Māori to bring about productive and sustainable environmental transformation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Attracting internal and external research funding through the development of research projects in the discipline of landscape architecture. 

  • Supervision of postgraduate students. 

  • Conducting academically rigorous and inspiring teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels with a particular capacity and experience in landscape architecture.  

  • Contributing to the collegial and administrative development of the programme, school, faculty and university in service roles.

You will:

  • Be an early to mid-career academic with qualifications in landscape architecture.

  • Ideally have completed your PhD.

  • Be passionate about learning, teaching, and research and will have an emerging or established portfolio of research.

  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Have a positive mind-set and enthusiasm to contribute to the growth and activities of the School.
