Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Pūkenga Matua - Senior Lecturer in Architecture.

We are a multidisciplinary Te Kura Waihanga - School of Architecture with programmes from Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture, Construction Law, and Building Science. Our staff are renowned for excellent research, teaching and industry engagement and our students are highly attractive to both local and international employers.

Key responsibilities: 

·       Conducting academically rigorous and inspiring teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels with a particular capacity and experience in architecture. Courses associated with this role could include design communication, building materials, construction, and the development of environmental and technological factors in architecture to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate student levels. 

·       Attracting internal and external research funding through the development of research projects in the discipline of architecture. 

·       Supervision of Masters’ and PhD students. 

·       Contributing to the collegial and administrative development of the programme, school, faculty and university in service roles. 

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will have a Master’s of Architecture, or similar degree, and ideally a Phd. You sshould have expertise in teaching at tertiary level using a range of pedagogies and technologies and will have received excellent student feedback. Experience in Architectural practice will be ideal, but not essential. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.

·       Successful teaching in the area at tertiary level.

·       Developing skill with a range of pedagogies and technologies.

·       Good oral and written communication skills.

·       Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.

·       Evidence of commitment to the use of technology and innovation to enhance teaching practice.
