About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

As an Education Support Worker, you will play a critical role in our region’s Learning Support team by providing effective, efficient and equitable support for the benefit of children and young people to achieve specific educational goals in conjunction with early learning centres and lead workers.

 

You will:

  • Work alongside a Kaimahi to support a mokopuna with additional learning needs

  • Be supported by an Early Intervention team/ Tamaariki to action planned learning strategies within a reo Māori early learning evironment

  • Participate in professional learning opportunities as provided by the Early Intervention Team/ Tamaariki

  • Be able to move between reo Māori early Learning environments to support several mokopuna across their day

 

Salary range: $24.83 - $38.77 per hour + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience in working with pre-schoolers and/or children/ mokopuna with additional learning needs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, whānau and education providers across a diverse range of reo Māori early learning settings.

  • Reo Māori to work in these early learning settings

  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangata whenua.

  • To be available to work during school hours.

  • To have a full driver licence and your own vehicle.

  • To be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.

  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

Learning support is a critical part of  Te Mahau / Te Tai Raro. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.

 

Our learning support specialists work closely with families, whānau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and Māori medium settings to help maximise learning outcomes and promote inclusion in the south Auckland.
